Knowledge about position control of horizontal geared motor! Have you spread it!

Gearbox motor is to add a gearbox or gearbox to the motor output to reduce the speed of the motor and increase the torque. The gearbox affects the overall output of the geared motor. Torque, noise and accuracy.

Geared motors are often used for position control. Typical cases are used as packaging equipment or to pick up materials and place them in designated locations, as well as some high-precision manufacturing or filling liquids. The specific requirements of the application will determine the accuracy of the geared motor. For example, if a robot arm places a box on a pallet, a lower-precision geared motor is sufficient, and high-precision position control may only allow a few micrometers of error.

In fact, all types of geared motors can be used for position control. The accuracy requirement is the basis for our choice of gearing mechanism.

If the key point for your application is position accuracy, then you try to reduce the idle return of the reducer. There are many manufacturing methods for reducing the backlash, such as preloading or using high-precision gears.

The use of high-precision gears requires manufacturers to control the dimensions of the gears within a very small range of tolerances, so that all gears can fit tightly, and the gap between the gear teeth is relatively small, thereby reducing backlash. Of course, the price of high-precision gears will be much higher than ordinary gears.

There is also a way to apply a pre-tightening force to the gears, usually by adding a spring to the mechanical structure to keep the gear teeth tightly engaged to achieve low-altitude return. However, this method can usually only achieve high-precision position control when running in a single direction.
